European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC)

Established in 1952, the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC) is considered as the forerunner community to the European Union. Composed, at first, of six founding members, the ECSC integrated the strategic industries of coal and steel production of Member States by placing it under a supranational institution. By doing so, the ECSC had peace and prosperity ambitions. The organization expanded to all the Member States of the European Union before being dissolved in 2002.

CHAIRS

Winona Kamphausen

Hi everyone! I’m Winona or Winni (my nickname). I’m a 25-year-old Research Master European Studies student at Maastricht University. Initially, I’m from Hamburg, Germany, which was the beginning of my MUN journey in 2016. Since then, I have participated in more than 10 conferences across Europe as a delegate, chair and organiser. Next to MUN, I enjoy reading, travelling, horseback riding and spending time with my friends. I am especially excited about chairing the European Coal and Steel Community since I am enthusiastic about history, and it also is close to my master's thesis. I am looking forward to an amazing socials and debate and an overall great conference at EuroMUN 2023.

Kanis Jabin

I am Fatama Jabin, 21 years old and will be serving as your ECSC chair. As a 7th grader, I walked into my first MUN conference and fell in love. Since then, I have participated in conferences across many countries. Currently, I am studying economics at the University of Bonn and so far it's been the longest time I’ve lived in one place :). I am equally fluent in Bangla, German and English. I love a good debate, discussing solutions to problems, teaching, making videos, trying (and failing) to make new recipes and binge-watching tiny house videos (small houses, often on movable trailers).
